Terms of Service
Last updated October 10, 2026
The short version
- OLBB summarizes public Oregon legislative data. It is not legal advice, and it is not the official record.
- Some summaries are written by AI and can be wrong. For anything that matters, check the official source — we link to it everywhere.
- Billing follows the legislative session and stops on its own. You never have to cancel to avoid being charged through the interim.
- We do not give refunds. Cancelling stops future charges; you keep the service you already paid for.
These terms are an agreement between you and Applicable Ventures, LLC (“OLBB”, “we”, “us”), which operates olbb.org. By creating an account or using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. What OLBB is
OLBB is an independent service that mirrors the Oregon Legislature’s public data and builds summaries, digests and email briefings on top of it. OLBB is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Oregon Legislature, the State of Oregon, or any other organization.
OLBB is an information service. It is not legal advice, not lobbying advice, and not a substitute for the official legislative record. Decisions with legal, financial or professional consequences should be based on the official sources we link to, not on our summaries.
2. Accuracy, and the limits of it
The underlying data comes from the Legislature’s own public feeds and documents. We do not control it, and it is sometimes incomplete, late, or wrong at the source.
Some of what OLBB produces is generated by AI — plain-language bill summaries, topic classifications, and summaries of committee and floor audio transcribed by machine. These can be inaccurate, can miss things, and can misattribute who said what. Speaker names taken from transcripts are best-effort and are never identifiers. Vote counts and bill history come from the official data rather than from transcripts.
Deadline-based statuses such as “presumed dead in committee” are our inference from published deadlines, not an official status. A bill we show as presumed dead can still move.
The service is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, timely, or error-free, and we are not liable for decisions made in reliance on it. To the fullest extent permitted by Oregon law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
3. Your account
Accounts sign in by emailed link rather than a password. You are responsible for the security of the mailbox you sign in with — anyone with access to it can access your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has used your account.
One account is for one person. You are welcome to forward a briefing to a colleague; you may not share sign-in access or resell the briefings.
4. Subscriptions and billing
OLBB is priced around the legislative session rather than the calendar. What that means in practice:
- Monthly plans stop themselves. A long (odd-year) session bills seven times; a short (even-year) session bills twice. After that the charges end without you doing anything. You are not enrolled in an open-ended subscription that runs through the interim.
- Paying for the session up front costs less than paying month to month, and covers the same service period.
- Service continues past sine die through the signing period, so you keep receiving briefings while bills are still being signed.
- Special sessions are sold separately as a single flat-price pass for the duration of that session.
- Joining mid-session is prorated by the service remaining.
- Upgrades take effect immediately, with the difference prorated.
Prices are shown on the pricing section and may change; a change never affects a period you have already paid for.
5. Cancellation and refunds
We do not offer refunds, including for partial periods. Working out a fair partial refund for a session-shaped product is more likely to produce disputes than fairness, so the rule is simple and applies to everyone equally.
Cancelling stops future charges. It does not cut off service you have already paid for: briefings continue to the end of your paid period, and the last one tells you it is the last. Your watchlist and account remain intact after cancellation.
If a payment fails, we keep sending briefings for seven days while you fix it, then stop. Your watchlist is never deleted for non-payment.
If the Legislature adjourns earlier than expected, service ends earlier with it. That is the nature of a session-shaped product and is not grounds for a refund.
See the refund and cancellation policy for the full detail.
6. Email
Paid and free accounts receive the briefings they select. Every briefing carries a working unsubscribe link, and you can turn individual briefings off — or all of them — from your profile without closing your account. Unsubscribing from email does not cancel a paid subscription; use the billing controls for that.
We also send service notices (receipts, billing, and problems with the service or your account), and occasional OLBB news, such as when subscriptions open for the next session. News emails carry an unsubscribe link; service notices go to everyone with an account. We never sell or share your email address. See the privacy policy.
7. Acceptable use
Please do not:
- scrape, bulk-download or redistribute OLBB’s derived content (summaries, digests, classifications) as a competing product;
- share account access, or resell briefings;
- attempt to disrupt the service, or to access other users’ data;
- use the service to harass anyone.
The underlying legislative data is public and we make no claim to it. The summaries, classifications, digests and site design are ours.
8. Ending the agreement
You may stop using OLBB at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms; if we close a paid account without cause, we will refund the unused portion, which is the one exception to the no-refunds rule above.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email to subscribers before they take effect. Continuing to use OLBB after that means you accept the change.
10. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon.
