Refunds & Cancellation

Last updated October 10, 2026

The short version

  • Billing stops on its own at the end of the session. You do not have to cancel to avoid being charged through the interim.
  • No refunds, including partial ones.
  • Cancelling stops future charges. You keep the briefings you already paid for, right through to the end of your paid period.
  • A failed card gets a 7-day grace period, not an instant cut-off. Your watchlist is never deleted.

Why billing works this way

The Legislature meets for a fixed stretch, does its work, and goes quiet. A subscription that kept charging through the interim would be charging you for months when there is almost nothing to report. So OLBB bills around the session and then stops by itself.

How long you are charged

Long session (odd years)Short session (even years)
Monthly7 charges, then it stops2 charges, then it stops
Pay in fullOne payment, cheaper than paying monthlyOne payment, 10% off
Service endsWhen the signing period finishesWhen post-session briefings finish

The final monthly charge covers the signing period after the Legislature adjourns, so you keep receiving briefings while bills are still being signed. Paying for the session up front costs less than the equivalent months and covers exactly the same period.

Special sessions are sold separately as a single flat-price pass covering that session and its follow-up, because they are called at short notice and vary from one day to a month.

Joining or upgrading mid-session

  • Joining mid-session is prorated by how much service is left.
  • Upgrading takes effect immediately — your bill cap and briefings widen at once, and the difference is prorated.
  • Downgrading takes effect at the end of your paid period. Your watchlist is kept in full; briefings simply cover the first bills within your new cap, and tell you so.
  • After the session ends we stop selling new subscriptions until the next one convenes. Existing subscriptions are unaffected.

Cancelling

Cancelling stops future charges. It does not switch anything off immediately: your briefings continue to the end of the period you have already paid for, and the last one says so plainly rather than simply stopping.

Your account, watchlist and history all remain after cancellation, and you can resubscribe later.

Refunds

We do not offer refunds, including partial refunds for unused time.

This is a deliberate choice rather than an oversight. Calculating a fair partial refund for a session-shaped product — where the value is concentrated in the weeks the Legislature is actually moving — creates more disputes than it resolves. Instead the rule is the same for everyone: once a period is paid, it is paid, and you keep every briefing in it.

Two exceptions:

  • We charged you in error — a duplicate charge, or a charge after your plan should have ended. Tell us and we will refund it.
  • We closed your paid account without cause — we refund the unused portion.

If the session ends early

Service runs until the signings are done, so if the Legislature adjourns earlier than the statutory limit, service ends earlier too. That is the nature of buying a session rather than a fixed number of months, and it is not grounds for a refund. It cuts the other way as well: a session that runs to its full length costs you no more.

If a payment fails

Briefings keep arriving for seven days while you sort the card out, with a reminder by email and a notice on the site. After that they stop until payment succeeds. Your watchlist is never deleted for non-payment.
