Privacy Policy
Last updated October 10, 2026
The short version
- We collect your email address, the bills you track, and your briefing preferences. That is essentially all of it.
- We do not sell your data, and we never will. The bills you track are commercially sensitive and are nobody else’s business.
- There are no advertising trackers and no analytics cookies. The only cookie is the one that keeps you signed in.
- Delete your account and your watchlist goes with it.
This policy covers olbb.org, operated by Applicable Ventures, LLC.
What we collect
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address | It is your account and where your briefings go — sign-in is by emailed link, so there is no password to store. |
| Your watchlist | To build your briefings. This is the most sensitive thing we hold: which bills you track can reveal what you or your employer care about. |
| Briefing preferences | Which briefings you receive, whether you want the audio version, and whether you have unsubscribed. |
| Display name (optional) | Only if you enter one. |
| Subscription status | Which plan you are on and whether it is paid up. Card details are handled entirely by our payment processor and never reach our systems. |
| Send records | That a briefing was sent, when, to which address, and whether it was delivered — so we can tell whether you actually received what you paid for, and so we honour bounces and complaints. |
| IP address, briefly | Recorded on sign-in requests to rate-limit abuse of the sign-in form, and deleted automatically after a day. |
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not run advertising or tracking scripts. There is no Google Analytics, no pixel, and no third-party cookie. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, keeps overall traffic statistics from its own network (such as how many pages were viewed, and from which countries and browsers), without cookies and without following any individual visitor.
- We do not use your watchlist for anything but your briefings — not to build profiles, not to sell aggregate “who is tracking what” intelligence.
- We do not share your email address with anyone else. Only OLBB emails you.
Email we send you
- Service email — the briefings you choose, sign-in links, receipts and billing notices, and notices about a problem with the service or your account. These are part of having an account.
- Occasional OLBB news — for example, when subscriptions open for the next legislative session, or a significant new feature. Everyone with an account receives these unless they opt out, and every one has an unsubscribe link.
- We never sell, rent or share your email address, and we never send other companies’ offers.
Cookies
One cookie: a random session identifier that keeps you signed in, set when you use a sign-in link and lasting about 180 days. It is HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite, and it holds no personal information — just a lookup key. Signing out deletes it. There are no other cookies, so there is no cookie banner to click through.
Who else touches your data
- Cloudflare — hosts the site, the database, and the audio files.
- Resend — delivers email. They receive the address and the message.
- Our payment processor — handles subscriptions and card details. We receive only whether you are paid up, never your card number.
The legislative data itself is public and comes from the Oregon Legislature. Nothing about you is sent to them.
Audio briefings
If you turn on the audio version, we generate an MP3 of your briefing and store it so the link in your email works. Because it is built from your watchlist, its address is unguessable, and the files are deleted automatically after about 30 days.
How long we keep things
- Account and watchlist — until you delete your account.
- Sign-in links — 15 minutes, then they expire; the records are cleared after a week.
- Sign-in IP records — about a day.
- Audio files — about 30 days.
- Send records — kept while your account exists, so we can answer “did I get that briefing?”
- Suppression records (addresses that bounced or reported spam) — kept even if the account is deleted, because forgetting them would mean mailing someone who asked us not to.
Your choices
- See or change what we hold — your profile and watchlist pages.
- Stop the email without closing the account — turn individual briefings off, or all of them, from your profile.
- Unsubscribe from a single briefing — the link at the foot of each one turns off just that briefing.
- Opt out of OLBB news — the unsubscribe link in any news email. Service and billing notices still reach you while you have an account.
- Get a copy of your data, or delete your account — email support@olbb.org and we will handle it.
Oregon residents have rights under the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act, including access, correction and deletion. We honour those requests from anyone, wherever you live, rather than checking your address first.
Children
OLBB is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will email subscribers before it takes effect.
